| Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) donates school benches to MPP School, Pudimadaka
15th December, 2010: The Corporate Social Responsibility wing at BIAC today kick started a project of distributing school benches to all the government run schools at Pudimadaka village. As part of the initiative, the first consignment of benches donated to Mandal Praja Parishad School at Kondapalem hamlet of Pudimadaka Village, Atchutapuram Mandal today. The company handed over the same to Head Master of the School in a simple function organised at village community centre.
The project will be an ongoing one and will deliver benches in a phased manner extending to all the four MPP schools of the village once in every 45-60 days period.
Mandal Education Officer Mr. Nageshwar Rao was the chief guest for the program lauded the initiative taken up by the company. Others participated in the program are Joint Action Committee members of Pudimadaka chaired by Mr. Ch. Venkataramana, ZPTC member Ms. Nookamma, Dy. Sarpanch of Pudimadaka village.

APPCB joint initiative of tree plantation - 16th July 2010
Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) AP Pollution control board jointly initiate one million tree plantation programme.
Brandix India Apparel City Pvt Ltd (BIAC) and Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) jointly initiated tree plantation programme as part of the Andhra Government’s drive to plant One million trees in the state to improve green belt and help reduce the global warming. For this, 16th July has been decided to start the beginning of drive which will conclude on reaching the committed 1 million tree saplings across the state.
Driving this initiative, Ms. Sujanasri, Assistant Environment Engineer, Visakhapatnam Zonal office participated and planted the tree sapling followed by others. She said, we are being optimistic to meet the criteria of fulfilling 1 million tree plantations at the earliest. Officials from BIAC came in large numbers and actively participated. Brandix India Apparel City has organised this event in the proposed green belt area in the non processing zone of the park and extended full support to Pollution Control Board.

World Environment Day Celebrations - 5th June 2010
Brandix India Apparel City celebrates World Environment Day
BIAC celebrated world environment day in its 1000-acre apparel park in Atchuthapuram SEZ by planting trees and organising awareness campaign for all its staff on the importance of understanding the rapid changing Environmental issues. All the unit heads from Seeds Intimate Apparel India Pvt Ltd, Ocean India, Brandix Apparel India, Pioneer Elastic India Pvt Ltd has participated in the programme and planted the tree saplings near Water Treatment Plant within the park area. Later on BIAC officials shared views on the importance of World Environment Day, green house effect, global warming etc. BIAC staff organised an awareness programme for all the trainees who participated and answered actively.

World Environment Day (WED) is a day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action. It falls on 5 June. It was the day that United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. The first World Environment Day was on 1973. World Environment Day is hosted every year by a different city with a different theme and is commemorated with an international exposition on the week that 5 June is on. World Environment Day is in summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere. This year the theme is "Biodiversity - Ecosystems Management and the Green Economy."

Brandix Initiates an eco protection & conservation program on world environment day in the Apparel City
Brandix India Apparel City initiated an environment protection program through a tree plantation ceremony in the Apparel Park. This initiative was launched to coincide with the World Environment Day which fell on the 5th of June. Brandix employees were encouraged to plant trees to promote green surroundings at the facility and also to install a sense of responsibility in each individual towards the environment. This initiative was undertaken to show Brandix’s continuous commitment to promote and preserve a healthy and a green environment around its business units.
As part of the awareness program, Brandix featured a video on global environmental issues and displayed posters & banners highlighting the importance of a clean and healthy environment. Brandix also aims at educating its employees on the conservation of natural resources, usage of recyclable materials, waste management principles and planting tree saplings in regular intervals.
Brandix is globally recognized for the eco-friendly best practices and principles on waste management, which has been implemented in all its facilities. Brandix Sri Lanka has been conferred with prestigious awards and certificates such as Green Plant Platinum Certification for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) from the US Green Building Council (USGBC), the International Green Apple award for the excellence in waste minimization from the Green Organization (UK) and Energy Global Award for sustainability from EU Environmental Council.

BAI spearheads an awareness program on AIDS/TB for its associates
Brandix Apparel India in its commitment to upgrade and preserve the health & hygiene of its staff members, has embarked on a health awareness program to educate its staff on AIDS and Tuberculosis prevention and inculcate good health habits in the community it is operating in. For this initiative BAI has joined hands with PSI, the social marketing partner of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The key motive of BAI behind this program is to increase awareness on HIV/AIDS & TB and preventive methods amongst the employees on these fatal diseases. Brandix believes employee well being as a prerogative that is beyond profits and margins and hence is keen on adopting a HIV/AIDS &TB policy and to sustain the program through existing and new systems.
PSI (Public Services International) with who BAI has joined hands with, is a leading non-profit social marketing organization in the world, headquartered in Washington, D.C. and its Indian division, PSI/India, a registered Indian Trust established in 1988, is a social marketing partner of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare marketing 11 health products and services. PSI/India has been a key implementer of large scale and results oriented HIV/AIDS & TB programs including the setting up of high quality Saadhan clinics with a network of over 850 private doctors for treatment of sexually-transmitted infections.

BIAC Celebrates World Water Day with the local community.
March 22nd was the World Water Day. BIAC celebrated the World Water Day with the students of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Pudimadaka, a fishing village that is located about 3km away from Brandix Apparel city. The celebrations were conducted keeping in mind the key CSR ethos of Brandix – “Water is Life; Make every drop count”
During the event BIAC made a commitment to facilitate water for the school. Prior to the event an art competition was conducted among students from grades 6 to 9 to educate them on the importance of water and its conservation. More than 50students participated in the art competition. Winners got trophies, gifts and certificates from BIAC.
In addition to facilitation of water, Brandix also constructed a roof for the student’s lunch room.

Brandix achieves another milestone on International Women’s Day.
On 8th March, celebrating International Women’s Day, Brandix Apparel India, (BAI) announced its Workforce Empowerment & Welfare Scheme to all of its associates. The company chose to launch the program on the International Women’s day, considering 90% of its employees are female.
The welfare scheme reflects Brandix’s commitment towards the upliftment of its associates’ lifestyles and helps empower them to rely on their own strengths & capabilities. These initiatives include Insurance benefits and welfare benefits, a medi-claim policy and an accidental Insurance policy including death coverage. BAI also introduced a financial assistance scheme for the associates for their weddings and a gift program on child birth.
Ms. Ms. R. Shakuntala, Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, Visakhapatnam – I Commissionerate, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
BAI conducted a ‘talent hunt’ program in the form of an art competition in lieu of the International Women’s Day and more than 150 teams took part in the competition. The winners of the program also received their prizes from the special invitees who attended the program.

170 rural youth graduate from BIAC vocational training centre
in Dibbapalem
Recently 170 youth from Duppituru, Moturupalem and SC Colony villages successfully completed their training from the BIAC Vocational Training Centre, in Dibbapalem. To commemorate this memorable occasion and to honour the trainees, BIAC organized a grand graduation ceremony. During the graduation ceremony, the youth were awarded with a certificate of competency with an assurance of employment in supply chain units that operate from BIAC.
These certificates were awarded amidst a distinguished gathering comprised of BIAC Sector Director Mr. Feroz Omar, local politicians, government representatives and commercial sector officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Feroz Omar said, “This training centre started by Brandix India Apparel City Ltd. (BIAC) is gearing the youth towards securing employment in the bubbling industrial hub of Vishakapatnam.”
The training centre in Dibbapalem comes equipped with relevant infrastructure, and training programs include basic training in IT, sewing machine operation for women, multipurpose technical skills, construction skills and Basic English communications.
“The training we received was relevant for a job at BIAC and has made me self-reliant. Further as we are assured of jobs, we don’t have to worry about the future either,” said an ecstatic M Nirmala a passed candidate addressing the gathering.
This training centre was initiated by BIAC to provide employment oriented training to the youth of villages who had to be re-settled as a result of BIAC park constructions.

Corporate Social Responsibility Program
As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) handed over another set of sanitation facilities to a school in Dopperla village in Atchutapuram mandal. The facility was handed over to the school principal during a modest ceremony held in the school’s premises on recently.
The initiative was a part of BIAC’s continued effort and commitment to provide better “Water & Sanitation” facilities to the communities it is operating in. Closer to 50 students benefited from this project.

Brandix India Apparel City initiates a Social Empowerment Project for Youth
Brandix as a part of its continued commitment to the community and the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative has recently initiated a Social Empowerment project to impart skills to the un-employed youth in three villages of SC Colony, Moturupalem and Dupputur villages around BIAC area. MLA Kanna Babu inaugurated the training centre in September amidst a large gathering.
The project, being implemented by Brandix India Apparel City Ltd. (BIAC) and supported by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Government of India, is expected to provide job oriented training for youths in Visakhapatnam. This project is expected to gear the youth towards securing employment in the bubbling industrial hub, Visakhapatnam.
BIAC has set-up the training centre in Dibbapalem, with the entire relevant infrastructure. The programs includes

All the candidates who will be coming up for the training will be going under a scientifically designed Preliminary Assessment Test (PAT), which will give an insight on their current skill level and aptitude. Based upon the outcomes of this test, candidates would be allocated to one of the courses. The traning Programme is designed under four technical courses, each with a duration of about 3 - 4 months. In addition to basic life management and soft skill will also be taught at the centre. At the end of the Programme the trainees will receive a 'certificate of proficiency'’.
To deliver appropriate training programs Brandix has engaged IL&FS cluster Development Initiatives Ltd. to design, coordinate and implement the project along with Skill Pro Foundation for skill and education.
Brandix India Apparel City - Atchutapuram Provides Shelter for 108 Emergency Service
Extending its corporate social responsibility activities further, Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) recently came forward to provide shelter for EMRI managed 108 Emergency Service, at their site premises in Atchutapuram. Under the scheme BIAC has provided a specially designed parking facility for the ambulance service along with rest room & accommodation facilities for 108 staff who will be on 24/7 duty assignment.
From its present location at BIAC, 108 Emergency Service will be extending its pre hospital para-medical services to Atchtapuram & Parawada Mandals and will be also covering certain areas of Rambili & Munagapaka Mandals as well.
Mr. Feroz Omar, Director, Brandix India Apparel City declared opened the premises during a simple ceremony that took place in BIAC premises recently.

BIAC CSR IN VIZAG SECOND PHASE
Brandix India Apparel City commenced the second phase of its quick impact CSR projects in August. In keeping with the company’s theme of “Water and Sanitation”, BIAC upgraded sanitary facilities in three schools in villages close to the BIAC site. On 11th of September BIAC completed work and handed-over the upgraded facilities to the Principals of the schools who accepted the facilities on behalf of the children. Village elders and leaders were also present along with teachers and parents. A similar project has been launched in another village, where work is expected to be completed by end September.

Brandix India Apparel City launched its second phase of quick impact CSR projects recently. In keeping with our CSR ethos “Water and Sanitation”, BIAC is upgrading the sanitary facilities at two schools close to the BIAC site. About a 300 children of associates currently employed at BIAC will directly benefit through these projects.

BIAC Celebrates Children’s Day in Vizag Schools
Visakhapatnam, November 14th 2007: Paying tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) celebrated Children’s Day with the school children of Duppituru as well as Moturupalem villages. At Duppituru’s Mandal Parishad Primary and Secondary School (Achyutapuram Mandal) BIAC distributed school bags and other necessary stationery to the children along with a blackboard to the school. The event was graced by village Sarpanch Padaiiya Naidu and the Vice Sarpanch Setti Nageswar Rao.
The principal of the school Ms. Vidya Mohan stated that this was the first instance a corporate has aided to support the welfare needs of the children of Duppituru village.
Additionally school bags along with necessary stationery were also distributed to Mandal Parishad Primary School and M.P.P School (K.V.Kompalu) in Moturupalem (Rambilli Mandal) in the presence of Sarpanch Smt. Neerukonda Santhi. Two black boards were also donated to each school. The villagers expressed their heart-felt gratitude at this initiative taken by BIAC.
